Abstract:

Weevils of the genus Asporus Marshall, 1944 are reviewed taxonomically. Asporus masumotoi sp. nov. is described from mountainous area of central Laos. Adult weevils were captured on leaves of Quercus sp. (Fagaceae) and Schima sp. (Theaceae), and also on needles of Pinus sp. (Pinaceae). Following four species erroneously assigned in other genera are transferred to Asporus: A. bimaculatus (Faust, 1890), comb. nov. from Csphicerus Schoenherr, 1823, A. shanensis (Marshall, 1941), comb. nov. from Epica/us Motschulsky, 1858, and A. leucofasciatus (Voss, 1942), comb. nov. and A. acutidentatus (Chen, 1985), comb. nov. from Drepanoderes Waterhouse, 1852. A key to species and a catalogue are provided.
