The surprising finds of three exemplars of the Mediterranean weevil Hypophyes pallidulus in the canton Ticino in 2006 implied some questions, as the host plant of the weevil (Tamarix) originally does not occur in Ticino. After an unsuccessful, apparently too early conducted excursion in April 2008, the weevil was finally recorded on the introduced Tamarix parviflora in August 2008 along the Lido of Locarno.
