Broad bean (Vicia faba L. ssp. maior), cv. White Windsor was cultivated in three series differing with the date of soil contamination with single heavy metals (separately with cadmium, nickel, copper, lead and zinc) on the level of medium pollution according to IUNG - PIB classification. The soil was contaminated in 2002, 2003 and 2004. The analysis of injuries was con- ducted twice: at the early stage of the plant development (several leaves stage - 19.05.2004) and three weeks later (11.06.2004). It was found at the early stage that broad bean plants growing in the soil contaminated with zinc and nickel were least attracted for Sitona sp. in 2004 (last year of treatment). This tendency on treatment with nickel and copper contaminated soil was observed also in the latter period of the pest feeding.
