The elytro-femoral stridulatory apparatus of two species of Curculionidae is described and figured: Erodiscus proximus (Curculioninae: Erodiscini) and Arniticus hylobioides (Molytinae: Hylobiini). Notes on sound generation, acoustical behaviour and phylogenetic implications are given. Thanatosis display is reported for the first time in Erodiscus proximus.
