During an excursion to the Anaga Mountains Canary Islands) the so far unknown host plant of Acalles anagaensis Stueben 2000, Echium strictum L. (Boraginaceae), was found at the 'locus typicus' of the weevil. Only from this plant species, feeding was observed. With the discovery of the host plant, further 31 exemplars of the very narrowly distributed A. anagaensis could be obtained after description of the species. Up to now, only the holotype and two paratypes were known.
