Some results from excursions in 1982 and 1983 on a few of the Azores Islands are presented. Four species are described as new: Metophthalmus occidentalis (Lathridiidae), Tarphius rufonodulosus (Colydiidae). Hypera multifida, and Acalles subcarinatus (both Curculionidae), all probable remains of an ancient forest fauna. Tachyporus brevis Har. Lindberg is a younger synonym of Coproporus pulchellus (Erichson). In all 34 spp. are added to the Azorean fauna which brings the total number of known species up to .apprx. 400. Five of these species are also recorded for the 1st time from Madeira, 12 of them from Macaronesia. The origins of the additions are discussed.
