The middle European species of 2 groups of the genus Acalles are revised. Two species, A. dubius Solari and A. misellus Boheman, are separated from A. parvulus Boheman. The 2nd group previously comprised A. echinatus (Germar) and A. lemur (Germar). Four new species are described: A. micros (western middle Europe, France, northern Italy), A. commutatus (middle, eastern and southeastern Europe), A. petryszaki (Carpathians, Bulgaria) and A. kippenbergi (southern Alps). The group now has 6 spp.
